Craftsmanship

Every Altrenotti product passes through expert hands and precision technologies: cutting, sewing, tufting and checks, stage after stage. This is Altrenotti’s Made in Italy craftsmanship, since 1930.

Behind the hands

Behind the hands are the artisans: people who know materials by touch and workmanship by heart. Hand-tufted stitching, paddings measured layer by layer, coverings made with sartorial precision: gestures that give the products their recognisable quality.

Raw materials

Everything begins with the choice of materials: natural origin latex, horsehair, wools and breathable fibres for the paddings; solid walnut and ash for the beds, beechwood for the slatted bases; selected fabrics for the coverings, up to fine Vitale Barberis Canonico wools. Materials chosen to last and to be good for rest.

The stages of production

A journey through the stages of production: the expert hands of the artisans, keepers of manual workmanship, work alongside the precision of today’s technologies. Each stage is told in a short video.

Carding

Carding opens and spreads natural fibres, such as wool, to obtain soft, even paddings: the same gesture with which, in 1930, Turin’s artisans prepared wools and horsehair.

Springs

The spring is the heart of spring mattresses. Steels are selected by testing different loads, to find the most suitable combination of support for each model.

Memory foam

Memory foam is a viscoelastic material that reacts slowly to pressure: it welcomes the body and follows its shape, creating the characteristic memory effect.

Bonding

Layers of latex, memory foam and technical foams are joined with precision: this is how the inside of each mattress takes shape, according to its composition.

Quilting

Quilting secures fabric and paddings in the covers: a step entrusted to automated machinery, within an ISO 9001 certified quality system.

Sewing

Mattresses, toppers, mattress protectors, beds and bed linen: on every product, sewing passes through the expert hands of the artisans. It is the stage that best represents the manufacture.

Edging and finishing

Mattress edging requires a precision and attention to detail that only an expert artisan can guarantee: this is why it remains a manual process.

Research

Every material is studied in its properties, to find the best combinations. Innovation and tradition work together to improve rest, night after night.

An in-house supply chain

Altrenotti production is vertically integrated: the company directly controls every stage, from paddings to finishing. This allows constant attention to detail, extensive personalisation and flexible answers to every customer’s requests.

The details

Nothing is left to chance

Quality lies in the details: an invisible yet sturdy seam, a precise cut, careful assembly, a clean finish. Every mattress carries a label that is its identity card: it tells the raw materials chosen and the workmanship that shaped it.

Certified quality

Control, stage by stage

From raw material selection to final testing, every stage answers to the ISO 9001 quality system: cutting, sewing, assembly and control pass through expert hands and measurable checks. The Research and Development Centre studies materials and constructions for tomorrow’s systems.

Made to measure

Made to order, in Montanaro

Every Altrenotti system is made to order in the Montanaro manufacture, in the province of Turin: sizes, firmness, coverings and finishes are chosen for each project, including made-to-measure. Production that starts from the needs of the person who will sleep in the bed.
